Popeye Village is undoubtedly one of the must visit places in Malta. Located in Mellieha and with a lot of history.
Is Popeye Village worth a visit?
Yes, absolutely. As soon as we entered there we felt we were inside the Popeye movie. This village was established in 1979 to film the well-known Popeye and his Olivia. The film was filmed in 1980 and since then no one has ever tampered with those houses but there are small maintenances because all the construction is in wood. If we see Popeye village from afar we can see that some of the houses are crooked because of the life time.
What to expect from Popeye Village?
Above all, lots of fun. With the purchase of the ticket to enter the village we have the right to a photo, a postcard, popcorn, shows and a boat trip if the weather permits. The ticket price will depend on the time of the year you are going to visit but the maximum is 17€.
Points of Interest?
At the entrance of the village is given a map with all points of interest within the Popeye Village. From the houses where the characters lived and the comic museum where you can see the complete Popeye’s movie (for the most forgotten). It has lots of places to visit.
And it’s still possible to spend a good moment at the beach. So if it’s summer take your towel and a bikini with you. For teenagers there are also inflatables in the water for a good time of fun.
